Default 1997 BMW M3 Sedan - $9500!

Name: Phil
Location: Newport News
Means of Contact: PM
Available Packages:
I am willing to negotiate with serious buyers.
$9,500 - As is
$8,000 - Without CCWs, will come with stock wheels on shot tires
$7,800 - Bring your own wheels/tires, will not come with any

Trades + cash for: stock civics, integras, or TDI VWs, etc., willing to trade straight for an S2000, WRX wagon, or something of that nature. What I'm not looking for are trucks, SUVs, or Mitsubishi products.

For sale is my daily driver, a 1997 BMW M3 Sedan. This is a cosmos black sedan on mulberry luxury interior. Current mileage is 178,5xx and will continue to rise as I do drive it every day. I am selling this vehicle to downsize my fleet and to reduce costs. I would like to get back to tracking and selling this car allows me the breathing room to pay back student loans and afford the cost of consumables. This is without a doubt my favorite car, so I'm not going to give the car away and I do not have to sell it. I am not entertaining trade offers at this time.

I am the fifth owner, and I personally know owners four and three, with three being Kevin @ PAS. Kevin purchased it from a guy working for the Navy in Norfolk that had only had it for a few months himself. The guy bought it from the original owner up in the DC area that had put the bulk of the miles on it via highway driving. When the car changed hands for the first time a post-purchase inspection was done by Mike at Sports and Imports (http://www.sportsandimports.net/). At that time the entire cooling system was replaced. The radiator, the water pump (now w/ a metal impellor), thermostat, and all hoses. As many know, this is very vital to keep a S52 powered car running happily. During Mike's inspection he found NO other issues and even found that the rear shock mounts had been replaced with upgraded Ground Control mounts....bonus. With Kevin knowing Mike at Sports and Import's reputation, he bought the car without any worries. The only reason the 2nd owner sold the car to Kevin was because he did not want to keep a black M3 sitting at a ship yard while he was on a ship for countless days/weeks/months at a time. He realized quickly that he couldnt afford to let a nice car go to waste. The original owner purchased this car from Tischer BMW, I still have the window sticker, and was adult owned and maintained. I have records dating back from the original owner and have done quite a bit of work while owning it.

Now, a little more about the car.

Items I have replaced since owning:
- Replaced the thermostat and flushed/filled the coolant at 160,000 miles
- Replaced front brake rotors and pads with OEM Zimmerman rotors and Hawk HPS pads at 161,500
- Replaced the starter at 162,000
- Replaced rear brake rotors and pads with OEM Zimmerman rotors and Hawk ceramic pads at 163,000
- Replaced factory underpanel with Motion Motorsport underpanel
- Removed lux grille and added sport grille and spoiler
- Replaced both front fender liners, cowl trim, driver front fog light, floor mats, cabin air filter, added Lamin-X yellow fog covers, and driver wiper arm (all new OEM parts) at 170,000
- Recently replaced spark plugs with NGK BK6REs
- I installed a 3.2L Euro cluster with operating 50-150 C* oil temp gauge https://www.vadriven.com/forums/show...highlight=euro
- CCW Classic (street) 17x8.5 and 17x9 with 255/40/17 Hankooks
Outside of listed above the only other modifications are a Bilstein PSS9 suspension, Remus cat-back exhaust, Motion Motorsport Underpanel and a Sony headunit.

A little about the condition of the vehicle

Exterior:
The car has, to my knowledge, never been wrecked or had paint work. The body is straight except for two or three dings which I will have PDR'd prior to selling the vehicle. The top of the vehicle (hood, roof, decklid) have some white etching which may be able to be wet sanded out. There is one scratch on the driver front fender that carries onto the hood that is maybe 5" in length, and a few light scratches on the rear decklid. The rear bumper has some chipped paint on the rear of the wheel well on both sides and a scratch on the driver's side corner. From 10' feet away the car is flawless. The front end, and subsequently the hood, have sustained wear consistent with the mileage and age of the vehicle. The luxury package meant you had chrome kidney grilles, which I have recently removed and sprayed black. I can also have the hood, tops of the fenders, and rear bumper painted prior to selling the car for an additional fee.

Interior:
The headliner, along with the A and C pillars, sunroof partition, and rear speaker shelf have just been recovered. The only problem with the interior is that the driver's seat has had some leather repair work to the outside bolsters on both the bottom and top cushions. For the mileage the interior is very clean and otherwise has no holes, rips, tears, or stains. The glovebox does have the usual sag, and the steering wheel has some wear at 12:36. The driver front upper window guide will need to be replaced as there is a whistling noise heard at speed; I have bought the replacement just haven't had time to actually replace it.

There are some other areas of potential concern, all which can be remedied easily, however I am making an effort to disclose all possible problems so that I am not wasting my time or yours. The engine idles somewhat rough when cold starting but does clear up after a minute or two. I removed the ICV and cleaned it and that seemed to work for a short while, however the rough idle came back. I believe the A/C pulley needs to be replaced as it sounds like sleigh bells (easiest way to describe it) when the A/C is on; does not effect performance and the A/C blows cold, however it can be annoying with the windows down.

I baby this car and do not abuse it, as anyone who knows me or has ridden with me knows. I have never tracked it, and I know the two previous owners did not either. It has been drop dead reliable with the only problems being a stuck thermostat and bad starter, but I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. This is without a doubt the most fun car I've owned and have no problems keeping it, however at this particular point in time it makes sense to allow someone else to enjoy it. I have probably left out some information while writing this so please, DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS! You will not be test driving unless I have cash or certified funds in my hand.

The phone does not work and will not light up.

This is the only picture I have with the CCWs:

The lux seats are both power and heated, there are no burnt pixels on the OBC, and the glovebox has the typical E36 sag.

What is this? I either don't have it or don't know what exactly it is or what it looks like.

The left side of the glovebox "sags." Search bimmerforums for it, its very common and lots of methods have been devised to fix it.

oh lol, people talk about the sag like it's some cancer. A little saggage never hurt anything (inb4 tits, it's just part of getting older). Clean car. GLWS
