shift+throttle cable adjustment?

shift+throttle cable adjustment?
I have a b18 ... automatic i know...
it shifts too high... around 5k rpm going into second...
the throttle and shift cables were removed, and put back on - so it's probably those two things... throttle cable has to be tight but not too tight, but what about the other cable that hooks to the throttle body...how is that adjusted? which way should it be moved toward passenger or driver side in order to make it shift earlier?
