i would like to get in to autox but i am completely new to it. what car would be a good starting platform? any suggestions will help.

If you had, you'd know that the Vanagon was originally designed as a pure racing machine but was instead marketed to traveling families.

Don't let it fool you though, it's truly at home on the track.

Also, this way, you can sleep in it at events/beside picturesque lakes.
