Structural Integrity of drag car
I have a question for y'all drag guys. I am have 89 crx si, but once I dropped the motor and cleaned out the engine bay I found some things that were VERY concerning. There are two holes that I have no clue why someone made them. Here are some pictures. I am considering if these have compromised the structural integrity of the car.
Passenger
Driver's side:
I was sanding around the mount. I just found some "bondo" and wanted to see what's doing on before I progress and get the bay ready for paint.
I have not put my set up in the car yet but I have a
darton 81.5mm sleeved block
GSR port and polished head
skunk2 pro series stage 1
edelbrock IM
9:1 cp piston
ProStreet T3 Turbo manifold & Downpipe
v44 wastegate
like I said i haven't put the new motor in but
Garrett GT37R

Re: Structural Integrity of drag car
it looks like rusted out holes.....and that bay is beat all to shit...
but as far as structural integrity...just grind the area to metal and place a 1/8 th piece of steel over it and weld it up...it will be just as strong...

Re: Structural Integrity of drag car
The holes aren't rusted through someone used a drill and made the holes.

Re: Structural Integrity of drag car
You don't need much structural integrity for a drag car. That said, the holes look ugly but will be pretty easy to patch up before you paint the engine bay.
