93 integra ls vtec conversion.
i know this is probably an issue that has been beaten to death but im going to ask anyway. i want to convert my ls to an ls vtec. so do i just swap heads or can i actually outfit my stock ls head with a vtec conversion.? i am a little strapped for cash so thats what is probably going to keep my options limited. also if i can outfit my head with vtec will i need to replace my current ecu and other components with vtec friendly ones? please help.
You will have to swap heads, you cannot modify a LS head for Vtec. You will also have to buy a LS/Vtec conversion kit (Golden Eagle for example, look it up on Ebay) or fabricate a means of getting oil pressure up to the new Vtec head, because the LS block does not have the interior oil passageway needed to supply the Vtec solenoid. There are plenty of step by step how-to's on the internet, just Google search. Hope this helps.
Op,
If you are strapped for cash then a LS/Vtec is not in you future.
You will need a Vtec head (b16, GSR, ITR)
Golden eagle kit (like said above)
head studs
should do a timing belt, water pump, ect since you have to take most of those parts off any way.
Good luck.

Plus you will need a chipped Vtec ECU (Engine will have to be tuned to run properly) and modify the wiring harness for the Vtec solenoid. A properly set up LS/Vtec is a lot of work and isn't cheap. Good news is your car is at least OBD1.
