Glad you put some effort into searching for an answer.
Fix the cel first, you'll know if its iac if the car has a jumpy idle. That being said things to look at
1.oil pressure/oil level
2.vtec solenoid
3.knock sensor
4.shit wiring
5.a loaded handgun to end it all

I think you answered all of your own questions. There is a CEL, VTEC won't engage. It's probably a CEL that causes VTEC to not engage. Sooo check to see what the CEL is and then ask for help.
Just FYI, the purpose of the CEL is to help tell you what's wrong. It's a diagnostic trouble code, so getting the code will help diagnose the problem.

I no all that. I just figured iac wouldn't stop vtec. Never did in my past... It's a brandnew solenoid. But it could be more then just IAC.. IT'D be nice if people on here didn't jump straight to being smartasses.. just asking for a little help and possible a easy answer... is there a way to bypass vtec and make it go off a VAFC? Instead of going thru all the little things?
