Kill Etiquette - When is it a win, or a ricer fly-by?
(reading through kill forum)
I've always been curious, in a friendly "punch it" stop light or rolling race with no set end point when is it a win/loss?
Do you race up to the speed limit (0-60 times basically)?
Do you go until we cant go any faster? (130mph?)
Do you guestimate a 1/4 mile?
If you're a car length ahead and climbing... yet slow down for the normal 10 over speed limit... and they go by at 20 over the limit... do they win?
Just wondering.

Usually I goto the speedlimit, but typically the other guy goes to infinity and beyond
If it's not an easily decided race, I might run it up a bit more to the point of one of us pulling one the other.
If someone walks me by 2+ cars, I just stop.
You'll never catch me doing 100+ races, unless its at the track.

I go till a definite winner is defined. ex. If im racing somebody,as said above, if its obvious im not going to catch someone then I quit and count it as a loss. If you're in the lead and its obvious they arent catching, barely touch the brakes so your brakes lights light up letting the other know you are done and you've won. Now if neither of us are giving an inch, or the lead is changing between each shift, I'll call it a tie, and give the other driver a thumps up. Assuming they dont jus keep punching it knowing I have stopped and hit the hazards.
also, i might be mistaken but i always believed it to be an unwriten rule that when its over you would roll down the window to find out what you lost to or beat at the next light?

nah, my cars in pieces right now... and its doubtful i'd win w/o turns
Once I was told by someone I beat, "If you wouldn't have slowed down I would have eventually beaten you." Then I laughed, then he got chased by a cop.
Here is my take on it, when it is clear someone has a huge gain and they've clearly taken the person, it's over. Slow down, pull over, hear the other person's woes (boost leak, still fixin' out the bugs, got a bad launch)

on 66 we race till there is a definite winner. some cars that i race, like bolt-on type-r's, for example, sometimes take a while to finish off. plus, everyone says stuff like "you killed me through 3rd, but i was pullin hard in 4th". it's bs. if i have someone by over a couple cars i just let off. no sense in hurtin your car.
i also think that a race needs to be set up and coordinated.
