Default clutch adjustment

'91 240sx. stock ka/tranny. I've heard several ways to adjust the clutch from different sources, what's the deal. It has no play in it at all at the top and I can barely drive it now. I'm replacing it soon, but in the meantime I'd like to drive it. please.

cable's good (I'm guessing that's how I adjust it is on the cable somewhere), haven't bled it yet. I tried adjusting the cable by loosening the end of it right on the clutch pedal. Did nothing.

that's what I'm saying. There is no pedal play like there's supposed to be. It's like no matter how far I let off the clutch it won't fully engage.
