Default jack recommendations

i need to be able to do some basic maintenance on some vehicles, so i need a jack and jackstands. doesn't really need to be heavy duty (heaviest car is about 3400lbs), but does need to be low profile. looking to spend about $100 on the jack itself; the stands should be reasonable as well.

i was going to just go buy a craftsmen unit, but a lot of reviews claimed that they would break within a year of light use. and a few sites recommended the one sold by costco, but i couldn't find it listed on their website.

what's some dargfag recommendations?

also: breaker bar and torque wrench?

Craftsmen tq wrench and breaker bar

Northern sells an awesome low profile jack, but I can't remember what its called. A guy at the shop has it and I love using it lol. Northern jack stands should suffice as well

got mine there. standard aluminum low pro that does the job for basic maintenance. One real con is that it doesn't jack the car high enough sometimes for some jobs.

but got my jackstands for like 20 at advance when they had a sale.

In my experience a Craftsman Professional jack will last plenty long if maintained, or about 5 years if not maintained.

I use the Harbor Freight low profile aluminum one, have been for many yers. Just about any brand of jack stands are good, Rhino Ramps (about $30 on sale) are more stable.

The pittsburgh one from harbor freight is awesome and works very well. I use it on lowered cars all the time with no issues.
