idle question.
wats up? im about to buy this car and it has a idle problem. its a turbo prelude and it jumps back and forth from 1500 to 1800. i thought it could be just a o2 sensor but i dunno. would anything cause this problem? you think i should spend my money on it if its got this problem? im gettin a really good deal on it but i dont wanna buy something wiht a bunk motor. holla back. =)

There are a few things you can check. Start simple first. Check ALL vacuum lines, make sure they are all either connected or capped off (i.e. if you are not using EGR then the inlet should be capped off). If all of those connections are good, check your fast idle control valve (make sure the screw is all the way in), then IACV (check for cleanliness), then TPS (make sure its not broken or make sure it is tighened all the way down)then check your idle adjustment screw (make sure it is not too loose, tighten it all the way then loosen it until your idle is sittin where you want it.
If you arent throwing any codes (you didnt mention any) then i would say its safe to say that none of your sensors or valves are broken or not working. My bet is on some sort of vacuum leak.

so then im good to go with her? i can fix this myself then.. im just not trin to buy another car and the engine blow a month later. as long as my engine is str8 then im good to go. thanks for the info. if anyone else has any ideas let me know cuz im going back tom to check it out. later haterz
