desktop computer hoked to tv?
ok guys Ive got a question. Im trying to hook my desktop up to my phillips flatscreen. It is an older gateway, only has a vga output. My tv only has s-video,rca, and hdmi input. Ive seen the cables on ebay n such to go from vga to s video, and Ive also seen the converter boxes. I dont really watch alot of videos or anthing on the comp, just mainly forum browsing, a lil shopping and such. The cables say to make sure that my video card suppports s video or rca thru vga. How do I find that out? Here is my video card:Via/s3g unichrome pro igp. If anyone has an input it would b great. Also on the converter boxes the main thing Ive seen people using them for are videos, does anyone know how text looks on screen? Thanks in advance

Re: desktop computer hoked to tv?
His laptop has analog vga, won't work. VGA to S-video is gonna suck for resolution.
Does your computer have a PCI, PCI express, or AGP slot? Does your computer monitor support both VGA and HDMI (looks like a white connector with a bunch of pins, larger than VGA connector) on the back? It will be easier to just plop in a very cheap video card.

I forgot, do we have a place in Western for Off-Topic discussions like this? Maybe something like Western Off Topic? Do we have something like that or is it just the feeble dream of a madman?
