Default Purchased a used car. Seller falsely advertised.

I know vadriven is probably not the best place to ask this but I'm sure there are some of you who have dealt with this.

I purchased a Honda S2000 a couple weeks ago that was advertised to come with a painted Seibon carbon fiber hardtop. I haven't seen many S2000 with Mugen or Mugen-style hardtops to judge how it should look and fit. The hardtop looked fine, no crazy gaps. Only problem was that bottom seal was pealing near the drivers side. Some adhesive would be a quick fix. I didn't think much of the hardtop till I was online picture browsing S2000s and stumbled on one with a Seibon hardtop. The pictured showed carbon fiber on both inside and outside of the hardtop. The inside of my hardtop is flat black with no signs on carbon fiber. I thought maybe some come with carbon fiber on the outside only. I send Seibon an email with pictures to make sure and they said that there should be carbon fiber on both inside and out. So I'm convinced that I don't have a Seibon carbon fiber hardtop, which are valued more that most hardtops. I haven't been able to reach the guy since I bought the car but I do have his (his mom's) address. Is there something I can do? Could I be legally compensated for this? Would it be worth my time?

TL;DR: Purchased a S2000 that was said to come with a Seibon carbon fiber hardtop a couple weeks ago and turns out it is not a Seibon hardtop. Can I legally be refunded?

Get estimates for a real vs the value of the fake one. Ask for a refund of the difference for false advertising. Send the letter (registered mail, pay for it) to the address to his mommy.

That, before you can do anything.

Yes, I have a print screen of the Craigslist ad. His ad in his exact words state "Seibon carbonfiber hardtop painted black w/hardware(whole thing ways like 15lbs/MSRP $4,500.00)".

I mean, I don't think it would be worth your time in pursuing it. You may be able to pressure him into some sort of refund, but I don't know if that will work.

You won't get anywhere. You should have done the research before purchasing.
