Forced Induction...an intelligent debate
ok...this is a new thread on that topic....i have a feeling that the other thread may have strayed a Little off topic
lets hear them!
SC vs Turbo'd.
and different versions of each....
i know we have some intelligent people on these boards..so lets get a nice debate going, and show the pros and cons of either. mainly for those that dont know about them can learn....
"keep your friends close..........your enemies closer"

Turbos rule. that is all.
little to no parasitic loss, awesome hp, awesome tq....good reliablity. the only reason i dont have a turbo is the same reason a lot of other V8 drivers dont.........cost. but id trade in a heartbeat.

If there was an affordable reliable turbo kit for my car that would have to be at the top of the list for power adders.
Unfortunately, some of the kits are "vaporware" and some have had some quality problems.
Very few turbo modulars out there right now.
You are talking 6K or so + extras as opposed to 3K. Plus less experienced tuners for our cars & turbos.
*damn i must be typing slow today.

hmmmm lessee....
N20 PROS
not much weight
no pipes to plumb
on when you need it
can be hidden
fun factor is
inital cost
more tq than hp
CONS
filling the bottle
bottle empty when you need it
the instant hit is hard on rotating parts
touching the rev limiter = boom
filling the bottle
BLOWER PROS
there when you need it
the whistling sound
the whine at WOT (positive displacement)
more pull than N20 (assuming the N20 is not in stages)
more hp than tq
the sound of a BOV
CONS
shittier gas mileage
wear and tear on crank bearings
initial cost
parasitic loss
TURBOS PROS
makes power & torque
little to no parasitic loss
there when you need it, less a little lag
the sound of a BOV
CONS
a lot of underhood heat
lots of plumbing (V- configured engines)

what makes the kits so damn expensive is, some come with a tubular k-member and a-arms and coilovers to make room for the turbo and intercooler.
and the ones that dont, you have to relocate the battery to the trunk. neither is really a bad thing, considering the purpose of this power adder is to go fast, but it just adds what we ALL dont want...cost

at the same time, it is cool when you roll into a parking lot, people hear the whistling and come over and ask "hey man is this thing turbocharged?"
