Default DMV road skills course

Can anyone tell me what all is involved with the DMV road skills course? Is it just on a road where you have to do figure eights and hand signals? I used to have a NY motorcycle license but let it expire, now I need a new one. If someone can tell me what to prepare for it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

when i did mine its just a u-turn, slow slalom through 3 cones, and then you have to stop in a box before you put your feet down, and do a "emergency" swerve... its easy

Jesus- your post is insane man. just because an instructor doesn't have a license doesn't mean anything. they just test you. the road course is painted in the corner of a DMV parking lot so all you have to do is show them you can go through their painted lines and shit. That post makes absolutely no sense.

As far as the road course. It is fairly easy as long as you can ride. Del La Sol made a perfect description. The only thing I had to do that he didn't was they gave me about 25-30 yards riding room to hit as fast of a speed as I could and then stop before a solid white line. Good luck with your test.

Dude thats is what I been told.. I never took the test at DMV. There were two or three people in my motorcycle class that did take the DMV test and failed ! Also from what I hear the test Different DMV's tests different. So dont be a ass about it !

I agree with Jesus. How can somone test you if they dont know what to be looking for or how a bike handles. Thats like taking you driving test in high school with the swimming coach. How the hell does he know what to look for

Jesus, I wasn't trying to be an ass. I believe that if you are a good enough rider to ride on the street, then you should be able to pass your DMV test with minor fu** ups. The instructor doesn't have to know what to look for being that the road course is painted in the parking lot and they just set the cones up on the painted dots. (at least at every DMV i have been to) Since they have the course mapped out prior to the test, they just look to see if you drop the bike or have a bunch of trouble completing the course.

if you need to take the test go to williamsburg and take it! they make you drive around the dmv twice and pull in the parking lot! just make sure you use your rear brake cause they will look for that! there is barely enough room to get into second gear to be honest but it was a breeze!
