Depends on what you call big boost?

A lot of people have a million different opinions on piston rod combo's. John Shepard runs Crower/Ross setup, thats a 8 sec piston rod combo

Then you have Dave Buschur and his 8.9 run in his conquest, thats a JE Crower Setup. Keep in mind that on their conquest, hte wastegate barely even opens in the 1/4 since they run so much boost. Just something to think about.

Here is the list of Pistons and Rods for our cars, feel free to add to it if i leave one off.

Pistons: Arias, Weisco, JE, Ross, AEM

Rods: Grode, Crower, Pauter, Eagle, Carillo A-beam, Carillo H-beam, AEM

Thats all of the ones i know of, Grode will be the most expensive, lightest! If i build another motor that is the rods im gonna use.

Like he said, it depends on what you call big boost. From what I have heard the best bang for the buck is going to bea eagle rods on wiseco pistons. It's good for holding down a good amount of power. Thats what I would go for unless you are trying to push over the 550 hp mark.

Also 2G pistons on 1G big rods are popular and pretty inexpensive!

If you plan on running over 20psi of boost I would avoid any factory pistons. Stock 1G rods will handle around 475 flywheel hp, but I would have them checked by a machinist before using them. If you plan on a pump gas friendly driver I would keep the comp ratio under 8.5:1. I have had exceptional luck with JE pistons. For rods I have used Eagles and Olivers. Eagles are a good rods and an upgrade from factory 1Gs, but I feel the Olivers are a better construction and better suited for extreme dutuies(over 700hp).
