Who actually does there own work?
I figured with all these great "teams." That most of them were gearheads and did there own work...know there cars in and out. I'm now finding this isn't true.
So i got a simple question who actually does there own work?
Motor swaps
Problem trouble shooting(not quick to take it to the dealership)
tune ups for god sakes?
axel changed, brakes etc...
Be honest bitches...Only thing i havnt done my self was my clutch install, and alarm.....I dont have the resources to drop my own tranny, nor was i comfortable with doing that at the time dec 02....

Very basic shit at the moment. Then again that is all that is done to my car. I would really like to learn a hell of a lot more and hope to do so in the future through hands on experience. Tune ups, oil changes, altenators, and other easy shit is all me though.
i do everything myself except for complex wiring. i put a gsr swap in my hatch. i pulled the motor in my crix twice for re-build. i pulled the tranny in my crx 5 times in one weekend once. i guess thats what i get for buying 4 used clutches in a row though.
I do as much shit as I am financially capable of. Whatever I can't do (because of lack of proper tools or money), I put off until I can.
In general, I'm not comfortable having other people do work on my stuff (this goes beyond cars) unless I'm right there observing/helping, and I damn sure don't want to drop my car off at some shop and have people I don't know working on my car without me around.
It's part paranoia, part not wanting to be dependent on other people to do stuff.

I have done everything except for machine work. So far I have pulled the motor out of the R and completely dissassembled it, reassembled and installed it, installed complete supercharger and turbo kits, brake systems, clutches, coilovers or springs and shocks, guages, Hondata, stereo system wiring, custom boxes and fiberglassing, and of course installed an intake and exhaust.
You still fail to realize that some teams are physically incapable of getting together on the weekends to work on cars.
When Kinesis was all together in the same location we wrenched our own cars.
Work, and College put us all in different places.
