i want to get into riding motorcycles i have raced bmx and mountain bikes. i know its a different game but somethings have got to help. i have umm 3000 bucks im looking for a yzf 600r( i know where one is for sale for 3000) for my first bike... whats the recommended route i should tkae as far as learning to ride, classes, insurance, how much to expect for insurance i have no tickets of anykind and im 21 how much more for gear and helmet. clue me in. the two wheel world awaits.... oh and whats the local area like in regards to motorcyclist.. i get the impression the its a 50/50 between dumbass riders and dumbass drivers. opps local area being hampton roads

read gear 101 your going to spend at least 500 for your gear. BMX and Mountain bike are way different from motorcycles. Take the class, ride, then insureance. Get a bike thats 600cc or lower. Dumb riders to me are riders who just wear a tshirt and short while they ride. Drivers there are some dumb drivers but you cant blame them all the time. Most of the time they cant see us. You will learn to avoid cars and other things in the class.. well the video

agreed its a good price, and i also rode with this guy who had a yzf600r yesterday and it was his first bike, he said it was great and i thought it was a good setup for a beginner as well.
