problem with A/C

My A/C sometimes blow warm air , i keep on pressing A/C on and off until it gets colder again , but the warm air keeps coming back. I think its the compressor . Anyone had this problem before?

Before you start thinking about if it's your compressor. What year is your car? Is it r12 or r134? When was it last been checked? When was the last time the a/c system been recharged?
