Okay... so a few months ago i signed on to sportcompactpro.com, and entered to win a Skyline GTR, and applied for the sponsorship by RacerX. I got a call today when i was ripping the tranny off of my SR20, and this guy named Ty says they have carefully reviewed the applications, and i have been picked for a sponsorship. He tells me that its a $12 grand sponsorship, but its partial, meaning that they pay 65% of the cost for parts. All i have to do is put a few stickers on my car and go to some shows and races. Im not one for stickers, but for $12 grand you bet your ass ill do it! Anyway, he tells me about the contract, and tells me hes going to send it to me, but i have to pay a $79 charge. Its supposed to be fully tax deductable, because there is a donation involved for victims of illegal street racing. So i think about it for a second and ask him for all of his info, including his website, address, phone number..etc. He gives me all the info, and i say okay. I get online an hour later, and see the website has nothing on it but the sponsorship application. I looked into racerxmotorsports.com, and there was nothing there...it rerouted me to sportcompactpro.com! Its supposedly a partnership by RBmotoring and motorex. I looked all over the net, and it turns out that motorex has no idea who they are..per a forum i read. And the RBmotoring website says they are in "cooperation" with racerxmotorsports, but they have no "affiliation". So im thinking its a scam, but there are some people online who are sponsored by them, and im trying to get ahold of them to see whats up. I have never heard of a sponsorship where you pay to get noticed! Nor have i ever heard of a sponsorship that sponsors you without ever seeing your car. So pretty much, common sense would tell you its a scam... but for 12 grand...and only costing me 80 bucks...i figured what the hell, it may be worth it. I dunno...tell me what you think. Thanks.

 

I am always hearing abotu people using the racer-x sponsorship thingy...haven't run across anyone totally ripped-off yet...but I'm sure there are some out there.

Stop saying 12 grand, it's confusing as shit.

 

sounds like a definate scam to me just make sure you throughly check them out I hate to see people ripped off

 

I know of a guy in Hickory whose supposedly sponsored by them, supposedly it was up to 20grand and he only pays half. Dunno, Ill talk to him and see whats up.

 

Call the other 2 companies, motorex and the other one and verify.

I dont understand the "victims of illegal streetracing" thing.

Its a donation to people who have been injured by people streetracing? That sounds like bullshit to me, how would they go about giving it out?

Or is it for people who have been killed street racing? In which case, who the fuck cares and why would you make a fund in their "honor"?

Sounds like a load of crap to me.

 

I got the legal paperwork from them in my desk....they offered me a sponsorship....I didn't want to be tied into any minimum show requirements since I like to do my own thing. Read the contract carefully....gotta order parts through them, etc. Unfortunately, I had already paid for my Volks and nitrous before seeking sponsorship. It may be an option for someone tight on cash.....Good Luck.

i was also accepted for this but i have 2 friends up in MD that sent in their initial payment, then all hell broke loose...phone numbers changed..etc...so needless to say i havent sent them any money...i havent heard one positive account of dealing with these people

 

that racerx shit is complete crap. plenty of shit has been written about it on other forums.

 

i had a friend that tried that shit, they said he had a 10 grand cap, and they paid 50%

i was sponsered by them, its a scam and its bullshit, i paid $75 for a t-shirt and some stickers. they never replied to any of my emails and when i went up to their shop in Delaware its not there. they lied and they don't exist. oh ya and i never won a R34 skyline either.
