Where do ya ride or meet up?
still looking for more ideas for places to ride on or around the peninsula. I've done the pungo thing numerous times in the last year and a half but I'm looking for more places around Hampton/NN/Y-town. Pungo is fun but after a 40min-1hr ride down there...meet up with everyone somewhere....wait for everyone to show....BS with people...wait on people.....group stop for gas.....wait for more people to show....ride through pungo....then 40min-1hr(without much tourist traffic) ride back I've lost about 4-5 hours and and only gotten in a little over an hour of worthwhile riding(I hate 64 and the tunnel). Let me know if you guys meet up somewhere or have a regular route that might make for a decent ride. I already have a couple places I go if I'm bored and I feel like trying some stunts

As i said in another thread, welcome Shane
The parkway is always fun to drive. Its not a twisties kinda ride like pungo but it is a nice scenic route.
We had a couple DragVa meets here in Newports News and no one shows up but a few peeps. I've done the Pungo thing and loved it, yea u have to cross the water but we rode for several hours. If this weekend is nice we should all meet up and ride. The East Coast Extremers are having a Poker Run next month, I'll post when I get all the details.
Not sure what kind of riding your looking for but me and a buddy take the JRB sometimes and come back around on the ferry in surry to jamestown. Never any traffic and its got some wide open runs.
yeah it's the same Shane from cycleforums
-I haven't done the JRB ride yet. I've heard about it but never knew where to go. I'm a regular on the parkway as thats my "I need to get out of the house for a little while" ride as well as being my destination when I have passengers
-I've been been heading up around Tappahannock lately just to get out of town and put some miles on my bike and I have a feeling there has to be some decent roads around that way. It's also a nice ride most days and has allowed me to get a little practice clutching it up in 2nd(I still suck at wheelies but I've gotten a few up for more than a few seconds). Its just nice to get out of the city and ride around in the country a little.
-with all the people that ride up here you'd think it would be easy to get some people together. I'm def down for some poker runs and that sort of thing because I had a great time earlier his year when I went on one down in Va Beach. I ran out of gas....got really lost....and came in just about dead last after my group finally made it back. I won't be able to make the Aug 7th poker run because I'll be up in DC in training for my company but I'm usually down to ride just about anytime or at least hangout and do the kickstand patrol thing. I do like the pungo rides but I always get a little sketchy riding with a large group of people of varying talent that I don't know and after my little wreck in the tunnel last year and another near wreck on 264 I dread the ride down there.
-I like to ride at a moderate pace though because I just don't like pushing it too much(caution and a definite lack of skills) and if I get a wreckless or get in big trouble I'd probably lose my job
-I'll keep checking in here for rides and stuff because my poor bike has been spending way too much time in the garage this summer
