help on what bike to buy in suzuki series
yea im trying to buy a bike now im 21 my insurance is a bitch right now...im trying to see whether it would be better to get a gsx-r 600 or 750 as a beginner bike? any advantages or disadvantages of one bike over the other that yall pros could tell me or advise me in any way....comments are greatly appreciated thanks
SV650 all the way... the ultimate begginner bike, its cheaper to begin with, cheaper insurance, alot more learner friendly than the gixxers but plenty of bike so once you start learning you won't be bored to death on it, 3 of my tech's in the back are licensed road racers, riding for decades and thats what they all choose to ride still
if you really want a gsxr definetly go with the 600 not the 750, 750 is a good bike but completely over kill considering the 600 is already more than anyone learning needs
so i'd say new or used sv650 or sv650s... or a used gixxer 600, like 97-03 body depending on how much your looking to spend

Sv650's are nice....but for a complete beginner, its far too sensitive and far too much torque. I'd say get a gs500f .......its a great starter bike that won't get u in too much trouble. Fast enough to beat any ricer out there too.
and also, i'd say buy a naked bike at first. if you're not comfortable with bikes just yet and a complete beginner. it will save you a lot of money in the end if you end up laying down the bike.
my insurance on a 500cc bike is about 230$ per year..... collision /insured/uninsured / liability
i'm 27

i agree... but working at a dealership you give up on trying to tell people they need to start on a old standard bike or a ninja 250 or gs500, because no one wants to hear it and they'll just go down the street to whoever will sell them a hayabusa to learn on... so i think the SV is the best realistic compromise, if your mature and have a good solid head on your shoulders then theres no reason you can't start on a SV, but i'd buy used because no matter how much you don't go out and do stupid shit, your almost guarenteed to drop it trying to back up or something, and it should be a crime to do that on a brand spanking new bike
even a 500 can still get you in trouble, ask TheHubSS

There's a difference between being confident and knowing your limits to being confident that you start to get stupid on any bike.
Really a GSX 600 is a LOT of bike for a complete beginner.
Just my 2 worthless cents

Now that I have a few miles under my belt on my ninja 500 I'm pretty happy that I didn't get anything newer or bigger. But anyway I managed to low side the bike in a pretty deciving turn on the infomous rt. 14. I wasn't hurt at all and the bike was fine too...it only got a couple of scraches on the rear fender but i really didn't even care.
When your learning to ride you have to kinda humble yourself. Yeah it looks cool to be riding a gixxer and what not but if you don't know how to operate it your going to get yourself in a lot of trouble if you try and push the envelope. Now if your just going to cruse board street and sit at hess with all the posers then yeah a new busa is prob for you. But if you wanna lean how to ride start small and cheap...get some seasons under your belt and move up when the time is right.

you're talking about speed.....i'm talking about "the ride", all bikes are good when it comes to riding imo. a decent 500 rider can keep up if not beat a noob on any twisties. straight aways yes, but what's the fun in straight driving?
