start up problems
runnin an 89 crx si and when i start my car most of the time it will bog down and will take me a while to get it started back up but if i start it and give it some gas right a way it will be fine and also my rpm's will run really low below .5 (500 rpm) at idle. and will fluctuate a lot. i have it looked at by the honda dealer ship them selves including some little shops around town and they all say it check out fine. could it possibly be a compression problem?

Is an 89 carb or EFI? If it's carb you need it cleaned and tuned.
If it's EFI you have a vaccuum line off somewhere.
Nowhere could I imagine an alternator even remotely causing this fault.

Re: start up problems
yep, an alternator problem would be hesitation while driving, bad gas mileage, and running way to rich.
i don't think 89 si's where carburated, so check your vacuum lines, look under the hood and chase the diagram, make sure everything is hooked up correctly.
Did you add anything new lately?

hehehehe....i have seen it several times.
ECU's dont like AC voltage, nor do they like too much or too little DC voltage.

yeah, and you must love Toyota and their ingenious placement of their alternators....
if you have any other form of sway bar then stock (and most stock ones) you gotta drop it to get it out...
