i was looking around for a new shift knob, the gsr one is nice but i prefer to grab the stick like a door knob then a gun handle...but the stock 'knob' doesnt want to screw off, in fact, it doesnt budge. is it glued/stuck on or is there a trick? thanks for answering my dumbass question.

It should screw off. Take some kind of clamp to it if you have to, or just change out your shifter if it absolutely won't come off.
