oil filter flex?

oil filter flex?
I was watching one of my best motoring videos...they were dicussing the insane load of a motor at high RPM's and what to do when you are prepping your car for racing on the track. One of Spoon's engineers suggested a 'trick' to keep your oil filter from flexing under high load situations. He displayed a picture of the oil filter on the block with a hose clamp (like you would use to secure a rubber hose fitting to a part of an intake tube) wrapped around it. I guess from the way he explained it, the clamp helps the oil filter retain its shape. Comming from a spoon engineer it sounded legit, but to me it just doesnt seem like an oil filter would be under that hard of a load. Any input?

Re: oil filter flex?
if it is under that much pressure....it is possible that it is flexing (race engines at high rpm=high oil pressure) so it does sound feasable, to make certain that the oil isnt bypassing the media internally.
sounds weird. but if spoon builders do it...it is golden right?

my ass is big...its not sweet
i guess that is their reasoning. i have seen one instance (not first hand, but close enough) of a filter rupturing, but it was due to a relief valve sticking in the oil pump)
