Cast iron manifold, coated?

Default Cast iron manifold, coated?

I bought a cast iron manifold, is their any kind of coating or paint i can spray it with to make it not have that rusted look after 1year or so of use?

Grind some of the rust off, ceramic coating inside wouldn't be a bad idea. As for the outside, Wally World should have some high-temp spray paint or coating. Check to see what your normal operating exhaust temps are.

Getting it ceramic coated would be your best bet. Even the good high temp paints don't last very long.

i bought the cast iron manifold for longevity because i have something against welds, so i want it to keep looking good too.

The ceramic coating isn't very cheap, but it is your best bet.

i painted my manifold with 1500 degree paint and it stayed black for a year and a half

eastwood makes a stainless coating, it worked well on the manifolds on the BOSS i restored, however, i dont know how well it would work on a turbo manifold.

Jet hot. expensive, but damn good.

Check with your local powdercoating company. Most of them can do a high temp coating. We have our kart exhaust pipes done, and they have lasted 2 seasons at 1800 degree temps during races.

Thanks cosmo, i have a guy in mind that can paint and bake it for me and then do a second coat for free.

i would jsut get a phab my own mani cover polished fur as about as much as it would cost u to powder coat it
