Need Help Installing Guages
i am installing a A/F ration guage and a Oil Pressure guage and i was wondering if anyone can tell me how to do it or a site where i can find the info to do it. I am installing them in an 05 WRX
Did you get a narrowband A/F gauge or wideband? Your WRX has a wideband o2 sensor, and if you bought an Autometer A/F gauge, sell it. The Autometers are narrowband, and won't work on your car. As far as the oil pressure gauge, you'll have to tap off of an oil line somewhere and install a T-fitting to go to the gauge or the sending unit (depending on what type of gauge you bought). It's pretty easy though. Other than that, if your gauges have backlights, you'll have to hook up power and ground under the dash somewhere..
ok well red goes to a 12v power source preferibly on the ignition..you just splice into it. (So the gauge turns off when your keys come out and so that it can reset if it's mechanical) ..... Your black wire goes to ground which is any metal on the car basically....just screw it down.. you probobly want to run your oil pressure gauge off of your oil feed or oil sending unit....you'll need fittings, ask at another forum. as for your wideband 02 gauge I think they are sold at innovative widebands....
make sure you use electronic sensored guages because mechanical guages make you run hard lines of oil or coolant directly to the guage and can break and leak in to your car.
If you get decent lines and pay attention to detail that won't be a problem. If you can swing the extra cash for electronic gauges though, do it..
On the other hand, you can get parameter monitoring stuff for your WRX, a couple of companies make them, they're a little complex to install but they integrate nicely..

you will need to take off your intercooler to reach the oil galley plug that you need to remove. get a new plug that is tapped for an oil pressure gauge (they sell these at subaru for $5 or so). put the new plug in where the old one was. attach the sender to the end of the plug.
PS. you will need a long extention to reach the plug (allen key as well)
