What the hell
What the hell is wrong with driver/people in this area at Christmas time? I mean damn it's bad around here year round, but I was almost run off the road 3 times, and really run off the road once. Old people are driving 30 in 45s, and there should be a law against soccer mom's driving SUV's with out first taking some type of driving test in one. I swear 2 different soccer mom's tried to run me down at the mall today, and people need to pick a stance and stick with it at the exit/entrance ramp on 581 by the mall. Twice today I got off 581 coming from the 81 direction and tried to merge into the exit ramp when the bastard in the entrance ramp floors it in hopes of getting in front of me and cutting me off, so when I decide to drive defensively and slow down the jerkoff slams on his brakes WTF.
Any who I did get to play with a 350Z on my way up 81 while going to Floyd. It was a old guy that twice tried the ricer slingshot/drafting move both times I let him get even with me and dropped to 3rd and then I would just walk away. It was fun even though I never went over 65mph…
I also got to do a butt slide at the mall. I was coming from crossroads and got in line to go to the mall. After the line did not move for a minute I went towards the airport and went to do a U turn. For those that have ever driven a SRT-4 you know it has the turning radius of a big rig so in my rage I pulled the e-brake to get me the rest of the way.
Ah much better now rant mode off…

i used to think Roanoke traffic was bad until I moved out to SD, CA! I swear no one can drive out here! They all drive like you described and Mexican drivers from TJ are 100 times worse.

sorry richard.....i got to work yesterday, just in time to start fixing my damn heater that was out of oil, when the power went out. the power was out till about 230, and i was in bburg getting my broke ass hip looked at.

Just be a good defensful driver...and if they hit your car, make them stop, and jump out of the car w/ a handy balance shaft in hand and bash in they're windshields, leave your insurance card, and drive off with the middle finger flyin high.

no shit. I was entering 581 off 460 going toward tanglewood. I was in the poor excuse of and on/exit ramp. NO ONE WOULD BE NICE AND LET PEOPLE ON THE INTERSTATE. i swear i was on there for like 10 min and no one would let me out..held up traffic and everything..but after realizing that the dumb asses wont let me i just went ahead and got off 581.....gggggrrrrrrrr F*&K all you ignorant drivers...nice people jsut end up getting dicked over..i swear im gonna quit being a nice driver...if i have the right away and you still proceed im gonna make sure you hit me....oh well i need a new car anyway........(this is not toward anyone on drag but you all know what i mean)...ok done venting

Its a well known fact that ~80% of the ppl on the road have no clue what theyre doing.
Fact: Ppl have NO clue how to negotiate the on/off ramps at intersections like Orange avenue, Hershberger, and Peterscreek. Granted the on/off ramps design is horrible but OH is full of the same type of ramps and those yankees seem to have little trouble with them (I drove a big rig in that area for a year or so and noticed this).
The problem has several parts to it which when they all come togeather just right someone is going to wrinkle some sheet metal but normally its just the typical cluster fuck that rush hour traffic is here in Roanoke.
1. Ppl stop on the on ramp waiting for a break in traffic. Do NOT do this since once you stop you have little to no chance of merging into traffic going ~65mph from a dead stop. On ramps are for accellerating to the speed that through traffic is traveling at so you can merge into through traffic with out them having to brake significantly or at all. Blue hairs/soccer moms/cars full of teenage chics/homo's seem to be the worst offenders here.
2. Through traffic retards in the far right hand lane blocking merging traffic from merging from the on ramp into the through lane. Stay in the middle lane until you pass the last off ramp BEFORE yours ppl. 581 is three lanes wide and if you are heading for 81 there is NO reason to be in the far right lane until you pass Peterscreek rd. If you are in the right lane for whatever reason and have room then get the hell over to the left to let merging traffic on and DO NOT brake....keep a constant speed since the ppl merging will need to adjust their speed to through traffic mph and thats impossible when the through traffic is braking or going WOT.
3. Stay out of the left lane unless you are passing someone else. If you are passing someone else get the hell back over in the right lane (center lane on 581) to clear the lane for faster traffic once youve completed the pass. So what if youre doing the speed limit its not your duty to enforce traffic laws by holding up other ppl who may be in a hurry, on the way to an emergency, have to take a dump, or whatever. If someone wants to speed let them since they can run interference for you (keep them in site and when their brake lights come on youve just been told there is a cop ahead or soething else you need to slow down for). Theres nothing I like more than to find someone going faster than my 10-15mph over the posted speed limit and I would like to thank them at this time cause their brake lights have kept me from getting a hand full of tickets. Thank you.
4. Do NOT pass a truck on the right unless you are ready to incure the mayhem that can insue should the truck move to the right lane while youre there. I drove a big rig and can PROMISE you that the driver can NOT see you PERIOD. I understand that at times passing on the right is the only option to get around a truck so gear down, mat the gas, and get the hell around the truck ASAP. Dont hang out beside a truck in the right lane or your dumb ass deserves to get flattened and I will laugh at you for being stupid.
5. Passing trucks on the LEFT. This should be a no brainer but ppl continually fuck this up. If you pass a truck on the left do so as quickly as possible cause you never know what can happen. The trucker may fall asleep and drift over, he may be watching porn on his sat tv and drift over, a car in front of him may brake hard and he has no where to go but your lane, or he may not see you in his mirrors (yes, theres a blind spot on the left too just not as big as on the right). Most truck drivers arent rocket scientists and there is a reason they are driving a truck so expect the worst especially from truckers driving for Shnieder(sp?), American, or any of the other corporate haulers. If you find a truck that is all chromed out with not a spec of dirt on the tractor then you have found a independant trucker who prolly knows more about driving than all of us put togeather and doesnt want to scratch his fender by squashing you so those guys are safer to be around (on average).
6. Trucks weight on the average of 70,000lbs (max of 80klbs) so dont fuck with them. You are NO match for a truck period no matter what your driving unless its a freight train. This also means they cant accellerate or brake very fast at all so be aware when playing fast and the furious around them as you are taking your life in your own hands. If a couple of trucks get stuck side by side on an up hill grade be prepared to sit back and wait until the road levels or there is a down grade. Riding the trucks ass wont make him go any faster since he is more than likely governed to a max power output so his foot is to the floor on the accellerator pedal. Independant truckers usually arent governed down but any "corporate" owned truck is so he can only get so much power out of the engine no matter how hard he has his foot down.
7. I dont like retard truckers that obviously could care less about anyone else anymore than you do that end up blocking both lanes on an up hill grade but there isnt a damn thing you can do about it so dont fuck with him. Hes prolly no happier than you about having to go slow due to the grade since for him time=money and his pay check shrinks when hes going slower than he would like. Get over it and dont piss him off more since he may have just found out the owner of the trailer park he lives in is banging his old lady while hes out on the road putting up with idiot drivers. He may snap and insert ~70klbs of peterbuilt into your ass which wont get you hurt it will get you dead. Period.
8. USE YOUR FUCKING SIGNAL LIGHTS PPL!!!! I dont know about the rest of you but my crystal ball hasnt worked in eons and Ms Cleo doesnt ride with me so I am only guessing where you want to go or what lane you are wanting in. Using a signal light gives everyone else around you at least a clue where the fuck your going even if you dont know. Last I checked signal lights were standard on all cars since the 50s and the extra .00002 watts they use isnt going to affect the power output to the wheels in any way you can feel or measure. Translation=it wont slow you down to use a fucking signal light and might just keep me or someone else from running over your idiotic ass.
9. Use your freaking rear view mirror for something other than to hang shit off of. Ppl behind you may want around you, there may be a fire truck/ambulance that wants by you, there may be a big rig with no brakes thats about to flatten your ass, or any number of things that could be going on that you should be aware of. If there is a line of cars a mile long behind you then by checking your rear view mirror you will see this and hopefully have enough fucking sense to get the hell over so the rest of us dont have to follow you at ~2mph below the posted speed limit and you wont make a mile long line of cars worth of enemies.
10. Last one... Before you fuck around with someone or act like a retard take this into consideration. I along with a LOT of other ppl flat out dont give a fuck about you and carry enough insurance that it makes it WELL worth it to flatten your ass. It wont cost me a dime and more than likely I will get a new vehicle out of it which is fine with me. Youll possibly get a new one also but it will be one that is powered by your arms...get what Im sayin?
