Default Got Christmas Money to Spend! Help me decide ;)

K I have $500 to spend.

Of course I'm getting the Walbro 255lph.

109$ total from SBR.

I have a few questions and I would love suggestions from you guys like once b4.

My first question is on FPRs' ( http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=85 ) What is the difference between the Aeromotive thats $135 and the B&M thats $60? What should I get?

Also anyone seen any better priced injectors other than the 880cc's that 16g-gsx told me about on EBay? I'm looking for 880cc preferably.

I'm hoping to get the pump, fpr, and injectors with this. Anything else left over would be great.

The Best 1:1 FPR Out There

Aermotive's fuel pressure regulator is a 1:1 rising rate regulator perfect for DSM applications. Fuel pressure is adjustable on the top of the regulator (fuel pressure gauge sold seperatly).

Our Price:

$135.00

Adjustable fuel pressure modifier that works with the stock fpr.

B&M's fuel pressure modifier alters the stock regulator to adjust fuel pressure; however, it cannot decrease fuel pressure (gauge sold seperatly).

Our Price:

$59.95

The first one replaces your FPR compeltely the other is like a piggy back and has slightly limited affect compared to the first one.

You fuel pump puts out a constant flow at all times. No matter what load, no matter what RPM, your pump always has a constant flow. At wide open throttle this fuel is definately needed, you need a ton of fuel to help with the ton of airflow. However at idle you arent flowing as much air so therefore you dont actually need a ton of fuel. This is the job of the fuel pressure regulator, to return the extra unneeded fuel back to the tank, so that you have a constant fuel pressure built up within the fuel rail. On a forced performance car, you now have the added complication of manifold pressure above that of regular atmospheric pressure, so the pressure within your intake manifold is now higher than that of an NA car, so to have a constant difference in pressure between the fuel in the fuel rail, and the pressure in the manifold that that fuel now has to overcome in order to spray out, the fuel pressure regulator will increase fuel pressure by 1psi per 1psi of boost, so that the difference in pressure is constant at all times. When installing a 255lph you suddenly are flowing enough fuel that the stock regulator just simply cannot return enough fuel to the tank to keep the fuel pressure at a constant setting, so the base pressure rises. This doesnt effect top end because say your base pressure is 43.5 like on all 2g's, and say with the 255lph your fuel pressure unfortunately rises to 50psi, this means that until you are boosting 6.5psi (read, 43.5psi +6.5psi =50psi), your fuel pressure regulator wont be able to do any adjustment to your fueling, however after that point it will operate as normal, because it can once again handle the amount needed to be returned to the gas tank. With a FPR such as the B&M you cannot lower the base fuel pressure, which is the sole reason we use an aftermarket FPR on a DSM, to bring your base pressure back down to normal. The Aeromotive or SX regulators however allow adjustment to be made negatively so that it can once again be returned to factory and also have a boost referenced 1:1 increase. Hope that made sense, I tried to talk in laymans terms.

The problem with DSMlink and not having an aftermarket FPR, is that you base your global and deadtime fuel trims off of the LTFT's which are determined during cruise and idle conditions, the two conditions effected by having an overrun FPR. Get the Aeromotive or SX regulator, and a gauge, as well as a 255lph and rewire the pump as per the VFAQ's. Money well spent and then you know your fuel system is rock solid.

So your car is not running right since you are runnin 880cc's and the 255lph w/o the aeromotive, correct?

I have the stock pump rewired. I just want to know a few things, and one thing being, is it okay to get the injectors and pump and wait on the afpr for a while and my car run fine, just maybe burn a lil bit of extra gas at idle, and just adjust my dsmlink for those fuel trims??

The point of my whole speech there was to show you how you need the FPR to base your DSMlink fuel trims correctly. You can get it to run, but why not just do it all at once, and have to only tune it once? You wont get a good tune without it, so why bother?

I have an SX regulator, and just a few days ago my car registered 412awhp on DSMlink, prior to the cam installation that I am doing now with a cat in place, and on pump gas, so I'd say it's running pretty damn well

sx regulator and aeromotive are good but the hardware and fitting needed to install are gonna put a bigger hole in your pocket

Can you give me the details on this SX fpr? and is it harder to install than the aeromotive, and would it require more parts or whatever?

They are identical units, they look the same and bolt up the same.
