Default Power loss after 2500rpm

Lately ive noticed the lack of power after 2500rpm, and the fact full throttle, is the same as half. The cars very torquey, but makes ZERO power after 3000rpm. Ive never had this problem before so it's odd im jus now noticing it. Im meeting with Greaser tomorrow to remedy the problem hopefully but jus wopndering what some ideas maybe in the mean time.

Car is a 92 240SX BTW...

i've had cars come into my shop w/ clogged cats or clogged mufflers doing that. too much backpressure on the motor and it cant really rev. check for flow out of the tailpipe to see if you have good flow. if you feel hardly any air coming out, you may have a situation. you can also try unbolting the cat and leaving one bolt holding it to the exhaust. if the car runs fine with the cat unbolted, it's probably a clogged cat.

didnt get a chance to put the exhaust on, so i thought id go pick up a O2 sensor from Advance...As I left I noticed all power was there, pulled VERY hard and smooth through the powerband, then as I was heading home it slowly went away. And im back to having no power after 2500rpm...This sucks! Any ideas?

def a cat prob, once the exhaust fills up the pipe it creates too much back pressure. that has got to b u'r prob.

But this is the only time ive ever had full power back, and it's my daily, drive it all the time...Would I usually have all power when first driving if that was the case? Not trying to be difficult jus would like to be sure before I pay whatever it is to get a new cat...The exhaust I got I cant put on because the bolts are almost disintegrated...So instead of pay someone to put on the new exhaust/another old cat I will jus get a whole new system.
