Very crappy day for me. "My Trans blew up"

Well today coming home from my class at NoVA I turn onto sterling BLVD and was getting up to speed in third gear about 4000-4500k on 14psi and go to shift in to fourth when I hear a BOOM like a gun shot went off underneath my car. Next thing I know I am hearing something rattling around So I try to down shift into third and it goes in gear just fine but when I let my foot off the clutch it was like the car was in neutral. I stuck it back in fourth and drove 2 and half blocks to my house to park my car. So tonight the Z I think is going to Bernie's to have the Trans pulled and then when its all out and ready to go I got to go to this guy named Wayne who rebuilds race car transmissions and stock rebuilds to have him go through it and find out what broke. My day today went from being really good because I started school again to now costing me ALOT of money. If you have any idea's on what might have broke let me know.

sucks...maybe the 3rd gear syncro? i have no idea what wouldve gone out..every tranny i blew it usually was the diff, besides one other one and that was a auto (honda auto trannies arent ment for boost lol)

Yeah I'm betting on 3rd gear synchro or your shift forks. Actually its definately your 3rd gear synchro after reading it again. Might as well do a full rebuild while your in there.

Yea, the car is 10 years old, I'm sure when you break it open to replace the 3rd gear synchro you will see some other things that need replacing due to the wear and tear that has accumulated over the last 10 years.
