Default Banjo bolts and brake lines

What exactly is the purpose behind banjo bolts? are the necessary or would plain old NPT fittings on the end of stainless braided lines do just the same thing?

NPT does not have the capability to handle the high pressures of a brake system. you can use banjo fittings to adapt to a flare fitting, and do it that way.

remember that if you are installing SS lines on a street car, they MUST have the DOT plastic whip sleeve on them, or they do not pass inspection. most of them will come wiht a fitting that bolts to the caliper with a banjo fitting and the hose flares to it.
