I've got a line on one of these..............for 2500 bucks. The headliner has been torn out and it's got a couple dings in the body. But the engine, tranny, turbo, suspension all feel perfect. I drove it this last Tuesday.

First time driving one as I've only really ever owned Honda's before. So I'm just basically wondering if this is a good project car for the money. He said that he's done all the "free" mods that he could to it. Like drilling something so it runs 8 pounds? And other stuff. It also has a stage 1 Clutchmasters clutch. He also has a turbo timer on it; set at 2 min's.

All in all it seems like a great deal to me. What do you guys think? My first question is aftermarket availability and prices. I didn't like the way the turbo kind of ran out of breath at about 85mph. So a larger one is sure to be in the future. As well as an intercooler.

He said last time he ran it he ran just about at 14.5. Is this feasible? Is that fast or slow for this car? Just wanna make sure he's not throwing me some BS.

14.5 is about right for a stock car. How many miles?

Assuming it was awd? 2500 is alright however, like stated above you can find a better deal on dsmtrader.com if your willing to travel a little bit. 1ga dsm's can be found all day long in fair condition for around 2k.

For parts and such... it's not a honda so parts are more scarce and not in as much of a demand so some things can be a bit more exspensive, however the potential in the dsm's is dominant. Just about everything you can think of to whant to do to these cars is available. Only thing I wish was there was more in the suspension market to make these cars handle better.

 

He said the guy's already done free mods. Besides, I doubt free mods would make a stock 1G run mid 13's.

I wouldn't say parts are scarce at all. Guys I know that had 1Gs never had problems getting parts. They may not be as available as dime a dozen honda parts, but they are definately out there.
