Hey, just wanted to make everyone aware of something. Consider this a Public Safety Announcement or whatever. MD has been having a problem lately with people impersonating police officers and pulling over motorists. A few months back, they had a problem with someone doing it on US 15/340 just south of Frederick.

More currently, there have been occurances of this same thing on the DC Beltway in PG County right in the area of FedEx Field.

My advice is that if you are traveling in MD in those areas and an unmarked car pulls up behind you, I would call 911 and verify the legitimacy of the "cop" behind you before pulling over. This is what MSP is advising all motorists to do in those areas if an unmarked car approaches. Be safe out there.

they pistol whip them and take there car.

 

They might try to extort money or information from motorists

 

Probably to rob the person or to sexually assault women drivers travelling by themselves. Or they could be a police academy dropout just looking to simply impersonate. As it is, if an unmarked car gets behind me on the Beltway I won't pull over and I will evade the car until the 911 operator verifies the legitmacy of the unmarked car.

i see people get pulled over by unmarked cars all the time. so if an unmarked camero tries to pull me over, i'll just keep going!
