Im up in the air between getting a 35 lb kit and a 50 lb kit, would i even really be able to tell the diff when its installed?

 

isnt shaved door kits illegal in virginia? if so why bother, but id go woth 50lb bc doors are heavier than u think mine weighted 79 lbs w/p windows and 74 w/o

 

The actual weight of the door doesn't really matter, it's the force needed to open it. The door in on hinges, and a door popper is just about as far away from the hinge as it can get, so there's a large moment of inertia, so the force is a lot less than the weight of the door. I'm confusing myself, and I can't explain it very well, sorry.

 

Let me warn you 1st, I got my door shaved and the poppers installed .................they are a pain in the ass. The popper last about a year or two and you got to replace them. Also when it snows the doors get stuck and if its hot the solenoid overheats and wont pop properly. Last reason (especially if you live in fairfax) police will screw with you left and right and if their real pricks they will try to impound your car. Supposely it is illegal in va and you cannot pass state inspection.

well my handles have been shaved for some time now, but i have out of state plates so i dont have to worrie about that. and i have been pulled over a couple of times and no one has said anything about it...

 

your lucky. a friend of mine has em and he has nc plates and he got ticketed out the ass for lights, the handles and air i think..but he got outta it.

buti think the 35lb would do fine but if you want to be extra secure you could go with teh 50lb
