Just letting you guys know that its really bad out there on the roads, especially the highway. I spun a 360 tonight on I-81 North, at around mile marker 180. Spun the 360 and then slammed into the guard rail. Luckily I'm fine, and the only part of my car that got damaged was the rear end, which is destroyed, but luckily this break I'm swapping over to the 97-99 body style anyway so the bumper was already going to be replaced, and like I said ONLY the bumper was damaged, although I came within a few inches of having the entire drivers side of the car scrape against the guard rail which obviously wouldnt have been good. In the end I was facing traffic head on, and was forced to get out on the passenger side of my car to inspect the damage cause the guard rail was RIGHT there. Got back in the car, turned it on, and drove off.

A long story short the crash was caused because some asshole decided he didnt wanna use his turn signal, and quickly got out of the way of a snow plow, leaving me with absolutely no time to get out of the way, causing me to tap my brakes and try changing lanes, which is all it took. Back and forth my rear end drifted, and for a while I held on quite well, but it eventually just went and I found myself doing a sideways drift for a bit until I eventaully just spun, and did sort of the same motion the Supra did at the end of TF&TF after the big drag race at the end, whipping around and sorta rolling backwards into the guard rail.

The entire way home it just got progressively worse, until by the end I literally was going 20mph, and had my 2nd near miss, doing major fishtailing, and it only took about a 5* turn at about 20mph to do it. These roads for some reason arent fucking around tonight, so seriously guys take it easy and dont think you or your car is invincible just cause you wanna go somewhere and dont wanna let snow stop you.

Just a few pics of the damage. As you can see the bumper is fucked, with paint missing and huge cracks, but o well.

The problem of the bad conditions is just compounded unfortunately for most of us as our high performance tires just arent made for snowy condition. The wet and dry is fine, but if it gets cold like this they are useless. We might as well be driving on banana peels.

Yea but I dont think it's worth it. I'm swapping to the 97-99 body style this week anyway, so I already have a bumper lined up for me here at my house, so really im not worried about the bumper. It is however kinda shitty cause the bumper I wrecked was recently repainted this past summer from where someone had a hit and run with my car in the parking lot, so I was going to be able to sell that bumper for a lot when I made the swap. Now it just becomes a nice suvenier (sp?) for my wall.

They just closed the 460 bypass towards c-burg...you can't get to cburg by 460 anymore. Also, I'm driving to Roanoke at 4:30 in the morning to catch a 6:20 flight, but I heard 81 is closed...this is not good.

Where can I get good road conditions?

Nick

460 was closed for a multi car crash, should be opening up around 1000 or so. As far as i have been able to tell, 81 is not closed, they may make it one lane, but the way i hear the troopers going up and down it checking vehicles its still open at this time.
