so im getting a new project car, its in good condition from what i can see, but it has some electrical issues... ive worked through a ton on hondas, but its a pain and i was wondering if its worse on mr2's..
heres what the guy says is the issue(he thinks)
Junction Box 3 help mayday mayday

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I''m getting to the bottom of the electrical issue with the car. (rest can be read here: http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=91583 )

The only problems that are left seem to stem from something blowing the 7.5amp gauge fuse on the left kick panel. The stuff that doesn work right now are:

Gauge cluster (lights on it work, but no tach, or gauges...)
power steering
heater\climate control
fogs

I began looking at what parts on this are in common, and it seems as though they all go to the junction box #3 and all go to 2 wires on there. They all go to either the Red-Blue wire and then the White-Black wire on there.

It appears as though these go to the grounds at the right kick panel, and the left kick panel.

Any ideas on where to begin checking for something in that area that could be causing a short?
any easy things i should look for when i get this in my hands?

well, in a MR, wiring between the cockpit and the engine is longer (i know, capt, obvious over here). it can make for more difficulty when diagnosing something like an electrical problem. the questions i would more likely be asking the PO would surround what exactly has been to the car outside of maintenance or anything like that. now, since you say project car, would it be out of reach to purchase a wiring harness? i mean, if he had experienced some serious power surging or anything like that, he may have fried a wire or fused some or whatever. but then again, the problem(s) may be something simple. just go through the car when/if you get it. take things one step at a time.

yeah, he has a 93 tranny installed and when it happened he claims that the shop didnt hook up one of the grounds..im assuming that it fried a wire(like you said) ill most likely just end up pulling one wire at a time....(sigh.....)
anyone have a MR2 wiring diagram in pdf?

seems like that most of the wires to be fried would have fusible links?
