Dirtbike trails in the area
Well after reading crumpler's post and his new bike, and looking around here at VT I was curious if there were any nearby national parks or any place that had trails for dirtbikes or atv's. I used to ride but sold my bike 2 years ago when we moved from WI to Williamsburg, and am wondering if its worth getting back into or not (probably not)
I'm going somewhere with my dad and his buddies to ride ATV's.. but it's in West Virginia somewhere just over the border I believe. I was never interested in ATV's until he got his new Honda; As most of you know, I'm not to keen on Honda's.. but this thing is pretty friggin' fast and it's actually fun. I'd rather be on 2 wheels but 4 is just as fun.
i'm more of a yamaha guy... for close to the same money i'd rather have a 3 year warranty than a 1 year
, but i don't know a whole lot about ATV's. For dirtbikes though, I'd either look for another YZ250, maybe a KTM, or a KDX220 (kawasaki)
had a buddy that had a few polaris atv's, they never had any problems with them but they weren't the fastest things around
anyways, looks like i'd have to trailer the bike to ride huh

I've got a Kawasaki dirtbike at my grandparents in Kentucky. I used to ride it on their farm when I went to visit them... I'll be riding on my first actual trail next weekend when I go with my dad and his buddies. I'll be taking the 4 wheeler over some sweet jumps

yeah well dual sports / street legal dirtbikes aren't exactly up to par with a real dirtbike lol... for one, by law the tires have to have a certain contact patch, basically they are more of a street tire (for obvious reasons) and don't do as well in the dirt. Plus, the shocks are usually softer than they should be, not to mention the extra weight, plus if you're looking for a dual sport, you don't have the choice of a 2 stroke engine because of noise and 4 stroke bikes cost more.
i was lucky in WI, my buddy was a team rider for KTM and had plenty of land, so KTM helped pay for him to haul in dirt... he has over a 1 mile long track running around his house with every kind of jump you can imagine... damn that was fun
oh well, i'm sure i'll find other things to spend money on.
