i've been having this problem for a couple weeks now. today i disconnected ALL vaccum lines from the wastegate and the damn turbo still boost like it was under some kind of boost control. i can floor it in every gear but boost will come in slow and will max out at 13-14psi.... wastegate or turbo, which one is bad???

 

id say wastegate

 

if the turbo was bad, it would lock up or somke..correct? but if the wastegate is open without any vaccum at all it should be open and i should be able to spin my boost need to as far as i push the gas.... i dont have the money to replace both a turbo and gate, i need to isolate this problem.

 

do you have an atmospheric dump tube on your wastegate? If so turn the car on and put your hand under the dump tube if you feel exhaust gas coming from there your wastegate is stuck open.

 

give tuners edge a call they have ran into that exact problem before on turbo cars

 

check your cat if u still have one and make sure it isnt plugged up

highly doubt thats a turbo issue if it is still boosting. that sounds like a boost *control* problem. what kind of wastegate is it? deltagates ALWAYS have problems...

 

i think my CAT is clogged, i replaced the spring and now boost comes in even slower. im going to pull my cat of this weekend and see if thats the problem.
