Re: t25?
with a manual boost control you can lower it all the way to a pound. but it depend on the waste gate for how high you can set it. its going to be farely low on a t25 but you will have enough to have fun. stay in 10psi and dont get in trouble with the cops

Re: t25?
.. umm.. you don't set anything on any wastegate. The stock BCS or a boost controller (get it - a boost controller - it controls boost - amazing, 'eh?) controls how much boost it runs, and those don't come with the turbo's if you bought one.
.. and yes, depending on the set-up, the boost controller usually allows you to lower boost from the factory boost setting. Not necessarily to zero, but lower than stock. Again, this has nothing to do with the wastegate itself.
Now, if you don't mind, I'd like everyone who has previously replied in this thread to go to your local library and read a book before ever opening the 'tech talk' forum again.
Cliff note - unless the t25 you bought came with a boost controller some some type, it's going to run with the wastegate open until something breaks. In your case, I hope it's something internal and not the turbo itself. That way, you'll get to take an engine apart and maybe learn something.

Re: t25?
Dude, assuming that we are all talking about a turbo with an internal wastegate(he said stock wastegate on a t25), if it has no boost controller attached to it, it will stay close untill the exhaust pressure overcomes the spring tension on the wastegate actuator and will then open the wategate. It willl not run open unless the actuator is disconnected from the wastegate. So what ever the spring tension is set at is the factory boost setting.
