does it crank? and if it does...check ur ground strap more than likely it's all rusted and crap...replace it with a silver one w/ some gold terminals...early 944s are prone to this problem...i've had two, an '85 944 and i have a '86 944 Turbo, PM me if u have any other problems

if i turn the key it will try and try to turn over but it wont catch. It started once and then died shortly there after, I tried again and it ran long enohg to get me from norfolk to Jefferson ave in hampton and then it died.

I still ahd full electricity but just lost engine power. I will check the groud thing though. That makes alot of sense.

Put a DME and fuel pump relay in it and work from there. I had a 944 cabrio with somewhat the same symptoms that ended up being the alarm brain/module in the pass kick panel(water was leaking from the firewall into the module, intermittenly filling it with water and shorting). Good luck with it.
