Maaco's paint is so cheap because they use a one stage paint, like a Centari. Basically, the paint dries shiny. It's not the typical base coat/clear coat like finishes of late. That being said, these finishes are very suseptable to oxidizing and have horrible durability. Also, it's well known that Maaco just sprays the paint. There masking skills are horrible at best and there prep work is practically non existent. Ask any experienced body man, and he'll tell you that preparation is 90% of a paint job.

sometimes, but not if you're using a cheap paint.
