Default Maaco paint jobs

well i have decided i want my car painted due to the clear coat is pissing me off and i heard maaco was cheap, yes i know i get what i pay for.
Point is i was wondering if anyone has had their car painted by maaco and weather they liked it or hated it,also what the prices start at.Car needs no major prep work just minor sanding which i will get done.thanks

The paint is... ok...

Depending on who the have doing the masking you may have horrible overspray.

My suggestion, find people who know how to do prep work and do it all yourself, Macco will only scuff the surface and not even do a good job of that. A lot of the times they don't get the very edges or where the body wraps up underneath which makes the paint peel quicker than it would.

i went to macco, and they did a good job for the 300$ i spent, surprisingly you can see the metallic in the paint real good and people are surprised when i tell them who painted it, but you do get what you paid for and lately i have found some hazy spots but fuck it

I don't think it should unless you need a different brand/style of paint...

Maaco's paint is so cheap because they use a one stage paint, like a Centari. Basically, the paint dries shiny. It's not the typical base coat/clear coat like finishes of late. That being said, these finishes are very suseptable to oxidizing and have horrible durability. Also, it's well known that Maaco just sprays the paint. There masking skills are horrible at best and there prep work is practically non existent. Ask any experienced body man, and he'll tell you that preparation is 90% of a paint job.

sometimes, but not if you're using a cheap paint.

That is why I said prep it yourself... Single stage is not all that bad, I have seen wonderful paint jobs done with single stage... They do require more upkeep though.
