only problem i see with adding bolt-ons to the 1.3 is its like polishing a turd. in the end its still a 1.3 and still only going to have maybe 50 hp. haha Jason's(broncomx) efi 1.3 is strong running. but still not worth dumping all kinds of money into it.
1.6 wise. you can either go with a fuel injected 8 valve which would be cheaper than the 16v but wont be as powerful.
33's and 5.12's is a solid route to go. plenty of us around here running the same set up. when you swap to 1.6 depending on which route you go, might want to drop to 4.62's. esp with lots of interstate driving.
