The AX5 isn't the strongest trans in the world but for a 4cyl tugging around 33s on light trails or a beach on occasion, you shouldn't have any troubles. If the trans does go out, search Craigslist or PnP for an AX15 (easy swap). There also isn't a damn thing wrong with a bodylift. Cutting springs would have been a better analogy towards blocks and add-a-leafs. With a BL, you get to keep your stock ride. As long as you don't mind seeing a little frame (which isn't bad on a YJ), you'll be happy with it for a light duty Jeep. If you ever decide to build it into a tougher Jeep in the future, you can always source an AX15 and gear down the axles or even do a V8/nv4500 swap + D45s.
yea, it'll probably be ok for me. ecspecially with the low miles.. I was looking up some stuff on the v8 swaps and noticed you can fit a LS1 or ford 5.0 in it... only problem is I have no idea how much a swap like that would cost in the end and if it's alot more involved than a civic b-series swap I don't know if I'd do it.
