I mean, with the masters, would you want to stay with your current dept/position? I know I'll be wanting to move around often until I hit an age where I need/want stability.
That's the one thing I like about NG; it seems easy to transfer around to different departments and even different sectors.
My original question actually was whether or not having a MS in ME would open opportunities to different types of jobs involving research, then it got into the whole salary discussion. So no, i dont plan on staying in one dept.

Its great having dreams for big things, but generally speaking that just sounds a little unfocused. Those two just seem to be on two different paths. One towards the business and corporate side, the other more technical research.
