FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES

Re: FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES
here is another thought....
Compare cost between a K swapped eg/ek/ect.... and a J swapped eg/ek/ect... ( meaning Motor, Trans, Mounts, Wiring, and misc b/s).
I don't know prices on the J swap, But I hear K swpas can be expensive.

Mehh, why not just get a properly built k20/24?? Driskill has a 330+whp k-series, its completely n/a. With all the money you are going to invest in getting a 06 tl swap and putting it in, you could have a 300+whp n/a k-series car all day. Probably way lighter, and way more aftermarket support.
Its a good idea, but there are better options out right now.

Re: FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES
K-Swaps are pretty pricey but I believe they are a better bang for buck swap plus they have the aftermarket support.
For my OEM rebuild of the J, I spent around 5k.
The engine could be found anywhere from $800-$1500 average. Transmission with LSD around $1200-$2100. All the other shit you would want to do to the motor would be extra. The mount from Hasport or your own custom $500.
Wiring is the major bitch here. The harnesses are very expensive from Acura brand new unless you can find one in the junkyard with the motor. Tuning option would be either standalone or someone like Hondata would have to crack the ECU. That equals out to be big money as well.
All that just to run mid 12 seconds...

Re: FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES
i did a j in a dc2. eibach makes springs that compensate for the weight. tuning is a bitch, best bet would be aem ems. hood clearance can be adjusted by lifting the hood hinges up about an inch and a half or two. yea i know a tilted hood would look a bit lame but hey it works. j swaps ftw though nothing like a v6 sitting in an integra. talk about sleeper

Re: FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES
Standalone. Why is that such a problem? You're going to do custom wiring, custom axles, custom mounts, and then bitch about not having a stock tuning option???

Re: FORGET K-SERIES GET A J-SERIES
I'd just drop it lower in the chassis and do a dry sump system if necessary. I'm sure it could be made to fit without too much problem. I still shudder to think about what the difference in weight would be, or what the difference in front/rear weight distribution would be. It almost sounds like you'd end up with an Accord with a light rear-end.
What years and models did that engine come in, for those of us who don't pay much attention to Hondas/Acuras any more??

Not unless you can get the RPMs up to a good level. That's the only way to get lots of naturally aspirated (I just can't say "motor", sorry) K-series power.

You could do a retarded looking hood bump kinda like an Eclipse.

J30A4-03+Accords
J32A1-99-03 TL P
J32A2-02-03 CL & TL TYPE S
J32A3-04+ TL
J35A1-99-01 ODYSSEY
J35A4-03-04 PILOT, ODYSSEY
They're others like the new TL and accord but haven't had to get my hands on one yet.
