Rx-7 Owners I need help
I dont think its the fuel pump either. It really sounds like the wires or in the wrong spot, and or the wrong plugs. Thats what I really think is the problem.
Yes and you want the NGK BUR9EQ spark plug 86/91 lead (like the other guy said)
and the NGK BUR7EQ spark plug 86/91 trail (other guy said).
And its not to hard to figure out where the wires go, actually, its really easy. If that doesnt work, you might need a new Ignition Rotar. You can also might need to replace fuel filter (shouldnt be it but it might help)

was posting on a firends name. anyways the plugs are in the right order, ocne the car starts it will idle perfectly all day long, no sputters at all. it idles at about 900 rpm, when i first replcaced the plugs , i did put the plug on wrong, which is why i no there right now, after i changed it , it ran alot better, got leading and trailing mixed up at first, the plugs i will go get the correct ones , i just dont have the money to go buy plugs and foul them out , as there 6 dollars each and i just got my job today, i will check the fuel filter right now tho, i havent even looked at it. thnx for all the replys and helping me get closer to fixing it.
stock cats yes, 150000 miles , but was owned by an older lady, i dont think that she raced it, im hoping it doesnt need a rebuild . as far as fuel tho, it floods pretty quickly , im assuming that fuel isnt a problem its getting plenty, could be wrong tho.
All good ideas... Could be any of the above. Not a blown motor, symptoms would/could include excessive smoke, rough idling, hitting noise as the motor spins, shutting off right after cranking, hard to start, etc. I say you have a fuel or ignition problem also.

as far as the plugs, most ppl run all 9's around and I don't think its the plugs as far as the cats, it doesn't matter if the car was previously owned by a grandma because they get clogged up no matter what thats why most ppl put a strait through midpipe on their 7's. Just hook up with va gambler and properly diagnose the problem.
Get some new cats, you'll need to do it anyway and it might fix your problem. at 150k It's a good guess.
If it's flooding just pull the 40amp fuse under the hood, and crank it, or go to rotaryresurrection.com and look up the unflooding procedure. It sounds to me like you're running too rich on bad cats.

guyss , i found something worng , not sure if its the only thing, one of my wires was bad , would firing on only 3 plugs cause the plugs to go bad ??? i just ordered the wires , the coil is working fine andi was beginining to think that wass wat was wrong with it.
Flooding is a easy fix, pull the EGI fuse under the hood, crank the car for 10 seconds. plug in the EGI fuse, start the car.
My 88 NA flooded daily, the first time I owned it I had no clue what happened and it was broke down at lynnhaven mall for 2 days.

ive done that , it will only start after i put new plugs in, not even lettin old ones dry will work , and then after a very short amount of running time the new plugs are bad. i just found out i have a spark plug wire that is bad , would that cause all my plugs to foul tho?
