actually out of the 06s the zx6r, besides the daytona 675 is the slowest bike through the corners. if uve ridden the 06 zx6r you will know exactly why. the bike is very stable at high speeds, but is a tad sluggish through the corners.

on the street, and even on the track with riders of similar skill, the ZX6R should not be losing through the corners to other bikes. things like that are usually 10% bike, 90% rider. Get a feel for it... Put some more miles on it.. Loosen up a little bit.. and then get back to us and let us know what you think of it. I couldn't be any more happy than I am with it! Seriously.

the roughness im feeling is; most noticable in first gear i have to be much more smooth with the throttle now. at high rpms the roughness is much less noticable. also, shifting gears as i release the clutch i have to be alot more gentle to get that smooth feeling. throttle, clutch, and chain have alot more play then they should.
as far as breaking in the bike correctly; from 0-600mi i kept the bike under 5k rpms, but after i got my first service i took the rpms past no mans land i think a couple times too many, just out of pure adrenaline. because of this im now hearing a slight rattling noise in the enigine. a friend of mine is suggesting that this is loosened valves and nothing i should be worried about. could this be possible?? also, what would be a good method to use to clean the chain??

breaking it in will have little to do with your issues. Google the "mototune breaking in" method. Rattling on many bikes is normal as well as other engine noises....some develop after a few miles and are normal. If you had a ducati with the dry clutch rattle you'd think there's something very wrong with it. Bike engines are pretty durable and unless you did redline shifts for every gear since it was new its hard to believe that something is broken or out of adjustment already.
in the corners its all rider as a better rider will smoke a new 600 with an ex500 or sv650. On a really tight track even my drz400sm with 33 or so rwhp will be faster than a 600 if the drz has a better rider
what exactly is the roughness you speak of? Is it hesitating or missing? Is there flat feeling spots at certain rpm's? A lot of bikes have flat spots in their power curves that can usually be tuned out. I have a couple on my 99 zx6r which are barely noticable even after several rejets. You might look into people's success with tuning your bike.....some bikes gain a bit of smoothness and some don't. A couple hours on a dyno and trying different mapping settings would do a bit for most bikes and is usually a good call on newer bikes that are mapped lean from the factory
on the street, it's all gonna be down to the rider's skill. most any of the modern 600's are too damn close to really say the bike is not good enough.
as far as your original problem, before you go any further, clean, adjust and lube your chain, it'll make all the difference in the world, as stated before. if you still have issues, let me know, and i'll see what i can do for you.

now that doesn't make me feel good, who did the rejetting? i know you were having issues with it, i wish i would have had the time at that point to work them out. that WAS a long time ago though.
hehe, i used to eat people up on my old hawk gt... and that bike made MAYBE 40 hp, on a good day. it's about the size of a gs500, but there's something about those bikes that makes me comfortable, and that's the name of the game. if you're comfortable going that fast, then the rest just flows.

i def. see you guys' point of view, and most likely you guys have alot more track time than i do. as for clairifing my point a little, im talking about stricly 06 600s having the edge around the corners, from my point of view, due to the fact of having the ability to ride my friends yami r6 and my other friends zuki gsxr600

as far as the "other" 06's go, maybe your just more comfortable on some other bikes. it happens. i could take a gsxr600 and an r6 out and i'd be alot faster on the r6, for no other reason than i'm more comfortable on an r6 (b/c i like the riding position alot better). that's not to say that the r6 is "better", it just suits ME better.
like i said, lube and adjust your chain, i'd be willing to bet that's where most of the roughness you're feeling is coming from. you don't feel it as much at higher speeds b/c the chain is moving alot faster, so the "roughness" is at a higher pitch, which is less noticable.
i noticed in ur sig. that u have an s4....i do too...back on topic, thats actually how i felt a week or two after i bought it, then i pulled up next to my buddy on his 06 gsxr600 and gave him the business(by 1 1/2 2 car lengths). also, ive starting lusting for a 1k bike myself but the 15.5k redline is beautiful on the track, but the zx6r is def. a str8 line bike cuz i find myself loosing alot of ground to other bikes around the turns.
