that's like me advising someone who's considering purchasing a 240 to go with 10/8s with monotube dampers, t/c's and pillow ball uppers, and make sure you get the z32 maf and 720's with an enthalpy tune to go with your gt2835r.

sorry, as you know it's easy to just rattle some terms off and forget whose company you're in...

lid: airbox lid with a larger diameter outlet
cutout: electric exhaust cutout, just good for noise unless you are forced induction
o/r y: offroad y-pipe. just a larger diameter pipe from the header collector to the i-pipe. it's not supposed to be used "on road" because it moves the catalysts and changes your emissions equipment which is technically not allowed. but that's never stopped anybody.

A lid is very simple modification it involves the airbox that sits over the airfilter. The stock one has internal ribs that impede airflow and are designed to cut down noise. Aftermarket lids have smooth internal surface and produce a better airflow. A "cutout" is an exhuast modification that allows you to dump the ehuast by uncapping at a point before a exhuast restriction. A typical cutout is a 3in dump installed right before the exhuast goes over the rear axle. The term o/r y stands for off road Y- pipe. The pipe that attaches to the exhuast manifoldsand merges together into one pipe that resembles the shape of a "Y". Offroad means no cats and therfore no restrications, better flowing, and a lot more noise.

Yet, it will get you kicked out of the street lane at VMP if you have dual cutouts in the offroad "Y".....................

If he gets an manual, get 4.10 gears installed. Best seat of the pants change by far. My 2000 ran a 12.96 @ 109 with a lid cat back and 4.10 gears. That was on crappy Dayton Daytona 245's. Tell his to start reading up on ls1tech on the external modifications section.
