Default DSM People, I need your Help deciding what to buy!!!

I've just purchased a 97 gst. 3k bux, didn't run but turned over ok. Well, I thought it was the coil packs or something but realized it was very thirsty for water(antifreeze). As matter fact, it was a bottomless pit. I figured the head gasket was fucked. I ordered one overnight from summit, copper titan shit, 120 bux, whatever. Pulled the head off with a good buddy to find my block & head are fucked, not the head gasket. The retard who had it before me ran it with no antifreeze for long enough to make the head turn maleable and two of the water journals broke into the cylinders & damaged the block & the head. Anyways, I am new to DSM's & coming from hondas. I'd hate to call it a day and forget about this car without giving it a chance. Since both items are screwed, block & head, I need to find a longblock. All the accessories are pretty new on the car, alternator, starter, etc. I hear a lot about doing the swap over to the earlier motors & swapping heads and all this other shit to get away from crankwalk & shit. Earlier heads flow better too, correct? What the hell should i look for and what is the best place to look to find something in good shape. I just don't know what to buy since I am a total retard to DSM's. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Goals: 400whp, daily driven & reliable as hell
Price Range: 2k with turbo hopefully...maybe a little more depending on the deals

Cliff Notes:
Bought 2nd gen gst
2nd gen has fucked motor
What should i look for in a replacement?
Where and what to buy?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Jason

I am a die-hard do-it-yourselfer. I couldn't let you have all the fun. lol

I would, however, be willing to compensate a reasonable amount, provide drinks & food, and my own two hands to help with anything that helps me learn. have you done a 6bolt into a 2g before?
